Dear Friends,
I hope you are finding balance and joy in these trying times. Most of you know me, my name is Crystal Cavalier. I was born and raised in Alamance County. Currently, I live in the house my grandfather built, on the land of my Occaneechi Saponi ancestors that has been in our family for over 300 years. I am writing to introduce myself and let you know that I am running for US Congress in 2022.

Being in the spotlight is not my nature, but I keep finding myself front and center fighting to protect our waterways and unite communities, from military to environmental, to make change. I am on the frontlines because we cannot wait for those at the top to take action. As an Indigenous woman and working-class mother, I know this all too well. Across the country, everyday folks like me are running for office, and many are winning. What it takes is a massive grassroots movement behind them, rooted in hope and courageous action.
Please go to my website www.crystalcavaliercongress.com and read my story, sign up to be on my team.

I hope you will stand with me and become part of the power we are building in North Carolina.
Sincerely,

Crystal A Cavalier, MPA, Doctoral Candidate, Univ. of Dayton

AMERICAN INDIAN HEALTHCARE RESOURCE:

American Indian communities face challenges accessing proper healthcare, which have led to significant increases in diseases like HIV/AIDS among them.
Nurses can help break the barriers to effective care by understanding the challenges the American Indian community faces, delivering culturally competent care.
